Cobb County police have made an arrest in the shooting death of a golf pro at a Kennesaw, Ga. country club on Saturday.
Gene Siller, 41, was shot and killed by the driver of a white pickup truck that became stuck on a sandbar at Pinetree Country Club on July 3.
The suspect, Bryan Rhoden was taken into custody around 5 p.m. on July 8 in Chamblee, Ga., a city about 25 miles southeast of Kennesaw.
While investigating the crime scene, Cobb County police discovered two more bodies in the bed of the Dodge Ram 3500 truck.
One of the victims, Paul Pierson, 76, of Topeka, Kansas, was the registered owner of the truck.
Police say 46-year-old Henry Valdez, of Los Angeles, California, was the third victim. Nether Valdez nor Pierson were connected to the country club.
Authorities say Siller was not the intended target. He was simply in the wrong place and observed “a crime in progress” when he was killed.
Siller’s death made global news. A GoFundMe page raised over $650,000 in donations from around the country.
Pinetree reopened for business on Wednesday and the clubhouse was filled to capacity, according to WSB-TV.
