Mecklenburg County Jail

Deshawn Mcmanus, of Mecklenburg, North Carolina, was shot and killed days after he allegedly assaulted his live-in boyfriend.

McManus was killed during an altercation at an apartment complex on Kelston Place in Charlotte, NC, on Feb. 9

Witnesses say two people were involved in an altercation inside an apartment. The dispute moved to outside, and the victim was killed.

Police say McManus and the suspect knew each other.

McManus was previously arrested in January and charged with assault. He was released on $1,000 bond.

His lover, who goes by the username Slayed ByMone, took to Facebook to grieve.

ByMone’s posts attracted attention from Facebook users who initially confused ByMone for a woman. They gently broke the news to ByMone that McManus had a whole boyfriend who was also grieving.

One Facebook user wrote: “@Slayed ByMone when yall start dating like last night? cuz baby he gay, he have a whole live boyfriend that he stay with [sic].”

Another user wrote: “@Wayne Hudson he definitely loved his boyfriend they was so cute I loved their relationship. Demarco Cheerboy Dawson I’m sorry baby [sic].”

A father accused of kidnapping his teenage daughter 17 months ago could be holding her captive in Washington, but his technology skills are making it hard for authorities to find him, officials say.

Authorities say John Oliver Westbrook kidnapped his daughter, Daphne Westbrook, 17, in October 2019 from Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to a news release posted on Facebook by the Hamilton County District Attorney’s Office in Tennessee.

Investigators say Westbrook is holding Daphne against her will and they’re struggling to locate them because he is “an IT expert specializing in security, block chain technology and bitcoin.”
