Harlem legend Alberto “Alpo” Martinez tossed baggies of heroin out of his truck window before he was killed in a hail of bullets early Sunday.

The 55-year-old former drug kingpin was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital after he was found unresponsive in his 2017 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Martinez was killed in the shadow of a Harlem police precinct at 3:24 a.m. on Halloween. Now rumors are swirling that he was assassinated by a law enforcement officer.

Internet sleuths point to the close grouping of bullet holes in his driver side window that suggests someone who is trained to shoot at a moving target.

However, a source told the New York Post it appears that Martinez tossed the drugs out of his window because he knew police would be arriving.

Raw video footage by Freedomnews.tv shows what appear to be heroin baggies littering the street where Martinez’s truck crashed into a parked car at the corner of Frederick Douglass Blvd and West 147th.

Martinez, who served 25 years in a federal supermax prison, confessed to 14 murders before turning government witness to help convict nearly 300 street level dealers in NY and DC.

He was released in 2015 and lived a quiet life in Lewiston, Maine under an alias – Abraham Rodriguez – as part of the federal witness protection program.

Martinez often visited his East Harlem stomping grounds where he was born and raised by his single mother.

Handout

A police source told the New York Post Martinez should not have returned to Harlem.

“You were in the witness protection program because you testified against other drug dealers,” he said. “You’d make a lot of enemies who have a score to settle. When you return to the same area, word will get out very fast. He’s back in the zone.”

Alpo’s criminal exploits as a notorious drug dealer and bloodthirsty killer made him a legend in the streets.

Rapper Cam’Ron played him in the movie “Paid in Full,” which was produced by rapper Jay Z, Damon Dash and Roc-A-Fella Films.

Jay Z, Nas and 50 Cent have all recorded rap songs referencing Martinez.
