The color purple is a 1985 American epic coming of age drama film that was written by Menno Meyjes and was directed by Steven Spielberg. The film was based on the award-winning novel of the same name that was written by Alice walker. The film follows a southern black woman who struggle to find her identity after suffering abuse from his father over 4 decades. The film starred Danny Glover, Adolph Caesar, Whoopi Goldberg, Margaret Avery and many others. the film had a huge commercial success and was nominated for various awards including eleven Academy awards and four golden globe awards. The film is no doubt one of the greatest films of its time.
