CNN isn’t waiting until next year to unload troubled news anchor Chris Cuomo.
The cable network fired Cuomo just days after suspending him for helping his brother, Andrew Cuomo, amid sexual misconduct allegations.
CNN’s public relations Twitter account announced Cuomo’s termination on Saturday.
The news comes after CNN suspended Cuomo for using the network’s sources to “dig up dirt” on his brother’s accusers.
“When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly,” CNN said in a statement announcing his suspension on Tuesday.
“We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately,” the network said on Saturday.

Cuomo’s brother, Andrew Cuomo, resigned in disgrace as governor of NY in August after the attorney general’s office completed a probe into allegations of sexual misconduct.
A “major shakeup” is reportedly in the works at CNN, as part of a $43 billion merger with Discovery.
It was reported last month that a “majority” of CNN’s anchors/staff will be let go as the cable channel returns to its former 24-hour news format.
Cuomo and his colleague Don Lemon were rumored to be among those on the chopping block. Lemon is still holding on to his job for the time being.
